What is Project Rockstar?

Project Rockstar is about being healthy, happy, positive, helpful, wonderful and living life in a positive way. It’s about being a good person. It’s about being good to others and doing good things.

I created the other blog awhile ago and haven’t done anything with it yet but it’s time for that to change. I had been wondering about branching off – should I keep everything under one umbrella in this blog or give Project Rockstar it’s own chance to live? I like the idea of starting fresh, a life reset if you will. The hardest part is going to be taking the time to write blogs, research information, promote the Rockstar lifestyle and encourage others to join.

Can I be a Rockstar?

Yes, yes you can! That’s the coolest part – anyone can join Project Rockstar as long as you are committed to bringing positivity and goodness to yourself and the world around you. It’s about focusing on the good things in life. Eat well, love your friends and family, help your neighbors, and just live life!

I’m ready to rock, are you?

 

Coming soon to an internet near you – This Awesome Life is returning! I will be bring back Project Rockstar as well because it’s time. Time to get back to what I started. Time to focus on what’s important in life – living it to the fullest.

I really like Ben Coomber TV and his latest video really spoke to me. While I might not use his exact phrasing I do appreciate the message

I’m rounding out the end of my month with my normal cardio routine and am starting to see my personal trainer three times a week. We are switching up my cardio routine on May 1st and it’s going to be tough at first. I’ve had a few sessions now on the stair master and that thing is brutal but I suppose that’s the point.

This afternoon I went all in on the elliptical and made a new personal record – 2 miles in 35 minutes at varying resistances. It’s going to be nice seeing some of that same progress with the stair master and I know I can do it.

From the weight stand point I’m now going to be weighing in weekly at the gym and I’ll start posting those soon. I’m also working hard on creating some new blog posts and trying to get Project Rockstar off the ground. Going to be a busy month in May!

Don’t worry – I haven’t abandoned the blog already! Things I’ve been doing lately:

– Working on Project Rockstar: getting the website into place and working on content generating

– Walking and Running: Went for a walk/run by myself on Sunday and it was absolutely terrible but I’ll do it again. I was tired and it hurt! Just going to take a bit of time to convince my body that this is doable. Also went and walked around Holmes Lake is a friend so that was cool.

– Gym: Working with the new trainer and he has me trying some new things. Did a workout with TRX stuff on Monday and I’ve never done that before. On the outside I showed confidence but in my head I was pretty sure I’d fall flat on my face or something. I didn’t so that’s a plus. Also did my longest run on the elliptical of 35 minutes and level 4.

– Pains: So after all that I did end up with a log of pain in my right ankle. It might be a shin splint? I wonder if it’s related to the fact that my left calf muscle is longer and looser than my right one thanks to surgery. I ended up just taking a rest day yesterday after I started limping around. I also had a mini pity party and took a nap on the couch. I’m working hard on staying positive but no one can do that 100% of the time!

– Life: I went out a couple times with my friend to go shopping. We hit the outlet mall in Gretna which is apparently my new favorite place to shop. I can’t wait to get down to sizes so I can wear all the cool clothes I see there. We also swung by my old trainer’s gym and surprised him so that was cool too. I’m really working on being more social and doing things instead of just sleeping in and complaining.

– School: It’s about the same, read, write stuff, post stuff, repeat. We have a group project due in a couple weeks so we’ve been working on our presentation and paper. Our topic is on multitasking and being a student, about how that’s not always the best approach to doing things. Should be interested and I lucked into a really good group.

Mud Factor

This is what I’m training for – I’m signed up to do this in May. I must have lost my mind but it does look like fun.

I’m finally back in action trying to get my life back on track. I won’t bore you with the details but life got fairly complicated and awful but I feel like I’m on the other side of that now. I’ve been doing a lot to get myself back to where I was before all that stuff happened. It’s time to shelve that part of my life, dust myself off, and move on.

I’m back to eating healthy and working out again. I started working with a personal trainer last October and that’s been going really well. I have made a lot of progress and I have a lot of progress left to make. My big concerns now are on returning to life, being social, eating well, getting exercise, and enjoying life.

I’m in school again (or always?) and I’m now working on my MBA. It will be a slow process but that’s ok, I’m not in a hurry so I’ll get there when I get there.

I was also recently diagnosed officially with adult ADD and I’ve started treatment for that. It’s been a little over a month since my treatment started and I can really tell that I’m doing a lot better. I can focus on tasks and get things done. I actually feel like I’m involved in my own life again and that’s great.

So my next path is to bring the blog back and start updating it. I’m even debating starting to do some vlogs but I have to figure out a good place to do filming so we’ll see. I want to spend more time outside and enjoying life. Time to open my eyes and reclaim my awesome life.

Thanks to all my friends that have put up with me and been there for me despite all my issues.

produce, meat, and eggs

Farmers’ Markets fit really well into my eating plan because I can get lots of fresh vegetables and locally raised meats and eggs. Lincoln has at least 3 farmers’ markets that I know of and there might be a fourth. There are also produce stands on street corners right now too. I like the Old Cheney Farmers’ Market because they are close to where I live and they have a system set up to let you purchase using a credit or debit card. They even take SNAP (formerly food stamps) which is a great local program. The system works by purchasing tokens from the information booth and then using them to purchase goods from vendors. The vendors then give change in cash and then get reimbursed for the tokens they turn in at the end of the day.

It was warm and humid out today but I walked around with Sandy, Ross and my parents (well they wandered off on their own) and found some good foods for the week. I can actually see getting most of what I need weekly at the farmers’ market so I’m going to try and make this a routine weekly errand. Today I got some nice local ground beef, pulled pork, eggs, baby bok choy, broccoli, lettuce, and dried bell peppers. I also splurged and got a mango tea, it was unsweetened tea with mango infused, and it was great because by that point I was getting really warm. I believe I spent about $32 so I was well within my budget. The only things I still need to get is some fruit and chicken, the only chicken I saw today was a full roaster and that wasn’t quite what I wanted.

I also need to make time to get down to the bigger Haymarket Farmers’ Market this season too. I have friends that go pretty much every week so that will be fun too. They have a lot of live entertainment and other things going on and it’s a Lincoln tradition.
